Starprojector Lab

A personal workshop assistant, run by one person for her own accounts.

Pip is a private automation assistant that lives in Starprojector Lab, a home workshop on a small server. It is built and operated by the owner of the Google Account it connects to, for that account only. There are no other users, no sign-ups, and nothing for sale.

What it does

With the account owner's explicit permission, Pip connects to her own Google Account to help her keep track of her own work:

• reading, searching and sending mail from her mailbox;
• reading and creating calendar events;
• reading and writing files in her own Drive, Sheets and Docs;
• looking up her own contacts when she asks it to.

Every action is either requested by her in conversation or scheduled by her. Nothing is published, posted, sold or shared with anyone else.

How it is built

The assistant runs on hardware the owner controls, in her own home. It holds an OAuth refresh token for her Google Account, stored on that machine and nowhere else. It does not run servers that accept connections from the public internet on her behalf.

Privacy

Google user data is used only to carry out the requests above, for the account owner, and is never transferred to third parties. The full details are in the privacy policy, which is the document Google's consent screen links to.
